Manual installation means adding the code your verified workspace provides. It does not require a ReviewList app, and it does not connect orders or send automatic requests.
Check domain control and editing access first
Claim your store’s custom domain and complete ReviewList’s DNS ownership verification before configuring the merchant widget. A website-builder account does not by itself prove control of a shared hosted domain. Confirm that you can add the required TXT record to the domain being claimed, or ask the domain administrator to help.
Check who can edit the website and whether its builder permits scripts or iframes. ReviewList access is separate from storefront editing access. Install on a preview or draft first and have the site manager review it before publication.
Choose a supported place for the snippet
Look for an HTML, custom-code, or equivalent surface that accepts the generated snippet. WordPress documents a Custom HTML block and an approach for third-party embed code. That does not guarantee your user permissions, hosting arrangement, theme, or plugins will preserve every script. Check the current builder documentation and the actual saved page.
Do not assume a named platform has a ReviewList integration or an app you must install. This workflow is manual. Builder plans and templates vary, and some editors sanitize code or reserve it for particular roles. If your editing surface accepts only text or links, use the store’s public profile link rather than pasting executable code into an unsupported field.
Select script, iframe, or link
In the verified workspace, choose a badge, rating card, or recent-experience layout and copy its script snippet. The script uses the selected store domain and appearance settings and adjusts display height. Paste the complete generated snippet once; changing the domain to another store would show the wrong feedback, not a new ownership claim.
If only iframes are allowed, copy that option and adjust its fixed height to prevent clipping. If both methods are blocked, link to the public profile. The fallback provides navigation without pretending the page contains a live display.
Verify the published result
Check narrow and desktop screens, then the published page. Confirm saved code, one display, the correct profile destination, readable text, and sufficient space. ReviewList’s preview tests the widget; the live page tests your builder’s installation.
The display uses eligible direct published reviews and stays honestly unrated before those exist. It does not synchronize orders, validate purchases, schedule requests, or promise Google stars. Approximate script-embed activity excludes previews and iframe-only installations. If the site cannot show the embed correctly, remove the broken presentation and keep a clear profile link while resolving compatibility.
Manual installation decision sheet
| Situation | Supported next step |
|---|---|
| Custom domain with DNS access | Complete the unique ReviewList TXT ownership check. |
| Permitted script surface | Copy the full generated script and test automatic sizing. |
| Iframe permitted, scripts restricted | Use the generated iframe and check fixed height. |
| Both embed methods restricted | Add a plain public review-profile link. |
| Preview passes | Also inspect the saved, published page on desktop and mobile. |
Questions and answers
Is this an official store-platform app?
No. The guide describes manually embedding code or adding a link. It does not claim an app listing, plugin, platform partnership, or automated order connection.
Can I use any free builder plan?
Universal compatibility is not promised. Your plan, editor, and permissions must allow the selected embed. Use a profile link if code or iframe support is unavailable.
Why does the iframe need a height check?
The iframe alternative uses fixed-height markup. The script automatically adjusts height, but a manually installed iframe can clip content if too little space is allocated.
