Wix Charged Me 19 Days Before My Subscription Expired, Then Refused a Refund After 6 Years as a Customer!

I have been a loyal Wix customer since 2020, and I am extremely disappointed with how this company handles its billing practices and treats long-term customers. Here is exactly what happened: On September 22, 2026, Wix charged my credit card $368.88 for an annual Premium Core plan renewal. However, according to their own invoice (#[contact number removed], the subscription I was charged for covers October 11, 2026, through October 11, 2027. That's right. Wix charged me 19 DAYS BEFORE my existing subscription even expired! When I contacted Wix on October 12 to request a refund, I was told that my request had been denied because of their refund policy. Here's what makes this situation so frustrating: I wasn't trying to get money back for a service I had already been using for months. I was trying to cancel a renewal that Wix had charged me for nearly three weeks before my previous subscription even ended. I understand that companies have policies, and I'm not arguing that businesses shouldn't have them. My issue is with the practice of charging customers weeks before their subscription expires and then refusing to issue a refund when they request one. Wix explained that they had sent a renewal notification and that I had agreed to their terms when signing up. But does that automatically make this a fair way to treat customers? After SIX YEARS of paying Wix, I would have expected at least some understanding, flexibility, or willingness to make an exception. Instead, I received a flat denial. As a small business owner, $368.88 is not a small amount of money. I no longer need this subscription, yet Wix is refusing to return the payment for an additional year of service. To be clear, here are the facts: - Customer since 2020. - Charged on September 22, 2026. - Subscription renewal period: October 11, 2026 – October 11, 2027. - Total charged: $368.88, including tax. - Refund requested on October 12, 2026. - Refund denied. Everything is documented in Wix's own invoice and customer service correspondence. My warning to other small business owners: PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO WIX'S EARLY RENEWAL CHARGES. Your card may be charged weeks before your current subscription expires, and requesting a refund afterward may leave you with no resolution. After six years as a customer, I expected better. I'm requesting that Wix reconsider its decision and issue a full refund of $368.88. Six years of loyalty. An early renewal charge. A denied refund. And a company unwilling to make an exception. Very disappointing experience. ONE STAR.

Charged for a ‘free domain’

I started a 3yr website plan that included a free domain. I decided within the cancellation period that it wasn’t for me and successfully got a refund. 3 years later I was billed 30 days in advance for a 3 year paid renewal for the ‘free’ domain. I contacted them before the renewal date through a dreadfully patronising and useless AI chatbot. Eventually leading to a special request refund form where I explained that I didn’t wish to renew and the date of renewal hadn’t passed, so I would like a refund for the money they took a month in advance. The email response simply says: Your refund request was denied. No explanation, no personal consideration to the special request form or turning off auto renewal. I consider this an especially devious technique to make money that is effectively theft. Their customer service is terrible and their AI is frustrating.

10 Years with Wix: €717 Charged, No Refund, No Satisfactory Explanation

10 Years with Wix – €717 Charged and No Satisfactory Resolution After approximately 10 years as a Wix customer, I am extremely disappointed by how the company has handled my complaint. On 7 October 2026, Wix automatically charged €717 to my American Express for the renewal of an Email Marketing subscription. I cancelled the subscription on the same day. My account dashboard subsequently displayed the Email Marketing plan as "Free", while Wix Support insisted that the paid service remained active until its expiration date. Despite repeated requests, Wix has refused to issue a refund and has failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for this discrepancy, repeatedly referring to its renewal policy. I understand that companies have terms and conditions. However, I also believe that customer loyalty, transparency and fair treatment should matter. After a decade of using Wix, I expected a more constructive response. My advice to all Wix customers: carefully check your automatic renewals, billing history and subscription status. Do not assume that cancelling a service will automatically result in a refund. A very disappointing experience that has seriously damaged my trust in Wix.

Avoid this company

Avoid this company. There are better options out there. They overcharge although they promise a cheaper domain and yearly subscription. I signed up but was assuming I just read the bill wrong bc it went from 11.90 with 1 year free to $50 for 2 years with a discount. Customer service couldn’t explain why. I had to switch the site I purchased to the correct Google account bc I didn’t realize it had set up my account in my old one since I had been logged in. I couldn’t find my account for the grace period but finally did at 2.5 weeks. What I didn’t know was that when i transferred it (with their customer help) it wouldn’t connect to the $399 site I had paid for. Spent 2 weeks talking to 10 different representatives (3 managers) and not one of them could hook my domain to the site I paid for. I continued to ask for a refund since they couldn’t help me connect it with their “expert advice”. Their managers said we will refund bc it’s not working. Billing people who you can’t talk to emails and told me again they refuse to refund even though no one can get it connected. Try more experts for help and again no connection, again another manager saying they submit for a refund, days later billing email saying no refund. Email says please replay back with questions, I email back and it goes to a GENERIC EMAIL. One lady emailed twice asking me to respond based on my last review and dismissed me bc I wasn’t responding to her emails, but I was and they were all to the wix@..., email address,. I called Wix asking for help finding her do she knew I was responding to her but it was generic email. No one knew how to find her contact. 🫣 It is literally a circus. 🎪🤡A joke of a customer service. Now 2 months in of a $500 bill, I still don’t have a site that works and I own a domain I paid 3 times more than they advertised. 🙄🤬 Do NOT choose Wix. Their experts can’t even connect the domain I paid for to the site I paid for nor provide customer service that doesn’t lie to you on the phone. Spent over 20 hours and now I just have to let the $500 sit there wasted till 2 years is up. 🤯😭🤬 Wix is the Worst. WW WIX IS THE WORST!

Charged 19 days early, triple the price, zero notice

Wix charged me US$730.80 on August 29 for a renewal term starting September 17 — 19 days early (a practice they later confirmed in writing as "typical"), more than TRIPLE the previous price, with zero notification of the amount. I cancelled and requested a refund the SAME DAY, within their own 14-day policy. Denied — exactly on day 14. What happened since is worse. Seven different support reps gave me six mutually contradictory justifications: refund "voided" by the PayPal dispute; formally denied "after review"; renewals "non-refundable by policy"; "never denied, still pending"; 14 days "only for new purchases"; and finally "we must wait for PayPal's decision." They promised in writing: once PayPal decides and the funds stay with Wix, they would review the refund. Well: PayPal closed the case on September 28 — in Wix's favor, in writing, case number in hand, "cannot be reopened". The funds never left Wix for a single day. I sent them PayPal's written confirmation. Their answer? "Our dashboard still shows it under review, we have to wait." Twelve days and counting after closure — while they hold $730.80 for a two-year service I cancelled BEFORE it started and never used. They set their own condition, saw it met, and still won't honor it. Every claim above is backed by screenshots and emails. Bank dispute and police complaint now in progress. If you use Wix: turn off auto-renewal TODAY, and check what your renewal price will be — because they won't tell you before charging it.
