Wix Charged Me 19 Days Before My Subscription Expired, Then Refused a Refund After 6 Years as a Customer!
I have been a loyal Wix customer since 2020, and I am extremely disappointed with how this company handles its billing practices and treats long-term customers.
Here is exactly what happened:
On September 22, 2026, Wix charged my credit card $368.88 for an annual Premium Core plan renewal.
However, according to their own invoice (#[contact number removed], the subscription I was charged for covers October 11, 2026, through October 11, 2027.
That's right. Wix charged me 19 DAYS BEFORE my existing subscription even expired!
When I contacted Wix on October 12 to request a refund, I was told that my request had been denied because of their refund policy.
Here's what makes this situation so frustrating: I wasn't trying to get money back for a service I had already been using for months. I was trying to cancel a renewal that Wix had charged me for nearly three weeks before my previous subscription even ended.
I understand that companies have policies, and I'm not arguing that businesses shouldn't have them. My issue is with the practice of charging customers weeks before their subscription expires and then refusing to issue a refund when they request one.
Wix explained that they had sent a renewal notification and that I had agreed to their terms when signing up.
But does that automatically make this a fair way to treat customers?
After SIX YEARS of paying Wix, I would have expected at least some understanding, flexibility, or willingness to make an exception.
Instead, I received a flat denial.
As a small business owner, $368.88 is not a small amount of money. I no longer need this subscription, yet Wix is refusing to return the payment for an additional year of service.
To be clear, here are the facts:
- Customer since 2020.
- Charged on September 22, 2026.
- Subscription renewal period: October 11, 2026 – October 11, 2027.
- Total charged: $368.88, including tax.
- Refund requested on October 12, 2026.
- Refund denied.
Everything is documented in Wix's own invoice and customer service correspondence.
My warning to other small business owners: PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO WIX'S EARLY RENEWAL CHARGES.
Your card may be charged weeks before your current subscription expires, and requesting a refund afterward may leave you with no resolution.
After six years as a customer, I expected better.
I'm requesting that Wix reconsider its decision and issue a full refund of $368.88.
Six years of loyalty. An early renewal charge. A denied refund. And a company unwilling to make an exception.
Very disappointing experience.
ONE STAR.
Super easy platform to use! I was pretty intimidated at first because I am not a tech person. If I can do it, so can you:) My website continues to generate more and more traffic each month!

Well I was promised a 200 dollar refund...and when you wen you say to go through my account are you referring to , say, my gmail? and what assurances do I have that somone will get back to me
Well I was promised a 200 dollar refund ...not maybe, definitely, and it's been going on almost a year and I still haven't seen anything. I think it's pretty obvious why I'm still upset. I don't want to be angry but I've been patient all things considered and nothing has happened. I hate to take further actions, but you have the list of my complaints below It's all there. And I will escalate it if I have to.

If I could leave zero stars
If I could leave zero stars, I would.
My experience with Wix has been incredibly disappointing from start to finish. The website platform is difficult to use, and customer support has been unhelpful whenever I have tried to resolve issues.
I am an aesthetic practitioner offering appointments for treatments such as Botox, and after operating my website for months, Wix suddenly decided to shut it down because it allegedly did not meet their criteria. This was despite the site being active for an extended period.
To make matters worse, Wix has been holding over £700 of my money, and I have been waiting more than 60 days for the payout. Every time I contact customer service, it feels like I am starting the process all over again with someone new. Nobody seems to take ownership of the issue or provide any meaningful update.
AVOID WIX AT ALL COSTS

Excellent across the board
An excellent, very straightforward platform, super easy to update, and super dependable. Reasonable as well. Just a great choice.

Charged for a ‘free domain’
I started a 3yr website plan that included a free domain. I decided within the cancellation period that it wasn’t for me and successfully got a refund.
3 years later I was billed 30 days in advance for a 3 year paid renewal for the ‘free’ domain.
I contacted them before the renewal date through a dreadfully patronising and useless AI chatbot. Eventually leading to a special request refund form where I explained that I didn’t wish to renew and the date of renewal hadn’t passed, so I would like a refund for the money they took a month in advance.
The email response simply says:
Your refund request was denied.
No explanation, no personal consideration to the special request form or turning off auto renewal.
I consider this an especially devious technique to make money that is effectively theft.
Their customer service is terrible and their AI is frustrating.

10 Years with Wix: €717 Charged, No Refund, No Satisfactory Explanation
10 Years with Wix – €717 Charged and No Satisfactory Resolution
After approximately 10 years as a Wix customer, I am extremely disappointed by how the company has handled my complaint.
On 7 October 2026, Wix automatically charged €717 to my American Express for the renewal of an Email Marketing subscription.
I cancelled the subscription on the same day. My account dashboard subsequently displayed the Email Marketing plan as "Free", while Wix Support insisted that the paid service remained active until its expiration date.
Despite repeated requests, Wix has refused to issue a refund and has failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for this discrepancy, repeatedly referring to its renewal policy.
I understand that companies have terms and conditions. However, I also believe that customer loyalty, transparency and fair treatment should matter.
After a decade of using Wix, I expected a more constructive response.
My advice to all Wix customers: carefully check your automatic renewals, billing history and subscription status. Do not assume that cancelling a service will automatically result in a refund.
A very disappointing experience that has seriously damaged my trust in Wix.

WIX was easy to use
WIX was easy to use, and the AI part was spot on for organising the information.

I’ve been a Wix customer for many...
I’ve been a Wix customer for many years, and throughout that time, I’ve never had a negative experience with their customer service team. In fact, I would describe them as legendary!
Wix is an innovative platform that continues to evolve, offering businesses the tools and flexibility to develop and manage their online presence.
Like any technology platform, there are occasional challenges. Recently, I encountered an issue with a form that the automated support bot couldn’t resolve, which required me to find a workaround.
While I appreciate the convenience of automated support, there are situations where human expertise and a deeper understanding of the problem make all the difference.
Overall, my experience with Wix has been very positive. I value their commitment to innovation, their customer service team and the ongoing development of the platform.
