HostGator appears to have designed its website in a way that strongly encourages customers to purchase its paid Professional Email service, even though free email functionality is already available through cPanel. The free cPanel email option is difficult to locate, while the paid service is much more prominently displayed and easier to select during signup. As a result, I unknowingly subscribed to and was charged for a service that I neither needed nor used. At the time of registration, the paid email option appeared to be the only email solution presented, making it easy for customers to inadvertently purchase an unnecessary service. In my opinion that is very greedy and manipulative design.
